Academic Skills Assessment

ASSESSMENT & PROGRESS MONITORING

BISTÅ uses a criterion referenced assessment and skills tracking system for individuals with developmental delays.  It is designed to assess a variety of language skills, an individual's motivation to respond, their ability to attend to relevant environmental stimuli, their ability to generalize skills and to spontaneously use those skills.

The language and critical skills identified by the assessment are vital in teaching an individual to be successful in a variety of environments.

During the assessment, data are gathered on 15 basic skill areas, 4 academic areas, 4 self-help areas and gross and fine motor domains.  The results are displayed in the skills tracking system.  Information is gathered through direct observation and parent and teacher interviews. In addition, specific skills can be directly assessed in a structured testing environment.
